Terri Ackerman is Counsel in Flaster Greenberg’s Insurance Recovery Department. She focuses her practice on representing policyholders in disputes with insurance companies in regard to all types of insurance coverage.
Terri has extensive experience in all lines of complex insurance coverage. She also has a broad range of experience in health law, government investigations, commercial litigation, construction litigation, subrogation, medical malpractice, and employment law.
Ms. Ackerman has served as counsel in the litigation, claims management, and litigation management for health care systems, medical practices, and hospitals, and has a special interest in insurance coverage issues related to the health care industry. She is frequently retained to provide coverage advice and act as coverage counsel for other firms in need of focused insurance coverage assistance in connection with complex, multi-faceted cases. In this role, she is either a consulting lawyer to the other firm, or acts as co-counsel focusing on coverage issues.
Terri has significant experience in government service, which informs her approach to insurance coverage matters related to regulated industries and government investigations. She has extensive experience in the litigation of complex, high-exposure matters in a broad range of areas, including insurance coverage, whistleblower investigations and related regulatory and governmental investigatory matters, employment law claims, personal injury, and commercial litigation. In this regard, she has handled matters as defense counsel, plaintiff’s counsel, and in-house counsel.
Prior to joining Flaster Greenberg, Terri was a partner with a global Philadelphia law firm, and also worked at several regional law firms. She was a lawyer with the United States Department of Energy and litigated on behalf of the government. She received an award for her handling of a $41 million Contracts Disputes Act claim, as well as for her litigation management of multiple high exposure lawsuits.
Ms. Ackerman is a member of the Idaho and Pennsylvania Bars. She earned her law degree from Villanova University School of Law, cum laude, and her B.A. in Political Science and Psychology from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, summa cum laude.
