Flaster Greenberg PC was recently featured in the June 2012 issue of South Jersey Biz magazine for being voted one of the ‘Best Places to Work’ in South Jersey. The ‘Best Places to Work’ award is an annual recognition given to select companies in Southern New Jersey that are creating a high level of workforce satisfaction and loyalty for their employees. This year, Flaster Greenberg was the only law firm in the region recognized by the magazine.
Peter Spirgel, Managing Shareholder and Chief Operating Officer at Flaster Greenberg, was interviewed by the magazine regarding the firm’s outstanding company culture. “We’ve tried to create an environment for all of our employees that treats everybody fairly, with respect, and allows them to have a good work/life balance, which is often a challenge in the legal profession,” said Spirgel. “We recognize people have to spend most of their waking hours at work, so we try to make work as pleasant as possible. I think when people are happy and feel good about their place of work, they treat each other better and perform better, and that spills over to the experience of our clients.”
The article emphasizes the full-service commercial business law firm’s strong belief that its employees should be treated as justly as its clients. “We don’t sell merchandise; we sell a service,” said Spirgel. “So our assets are our employees,” which is evident in the long list of perks employees are offered just for working there. Along with a full range of health, disability and life benefits, there is a profit-sharing plan for all employees, tuition reimbursement and legal service benefits available. In addition, there is a fully equipped gym and locker room facility onsite, firm sponsored 5Ks and bike races throughout the year, yoga classes and a wellness initiative created to support the healthy lifestyles of their employees. The firm also sponsors several team-building events throughout the year, which include an annual softball game, end-of-summer party, Thanksgiving feast and white elephant holiday party.
Not only is the firm looking out for the health of its employees, but they are also taking proactive steps in helping them reduce their carbon footprint. Earlier this year, Flaster Greenberg was voted one of South Jersey’s most green and eco-friendly companies for the installation of an electric vehicle curb side charging station in the firm’s Cherry Hill office parking lot, which is free to both employees and clients of the firm.
The ‘Best Places to Work’ recognition comes on the brink of the firm’s 40th anniversary, which will be celebrated later this year at the Barnes Museum in Philadelphia, PA. To read the full article, please click the link below.
