As the attorney representing the South Jersey Independent Restaurant Association, also known as SJ Hot Chefs, Phil Kirchner was interviewed to explain the basis for the request for a restraining order the Association had filed against two restaurateurs. The suit claims trademark infringement and unfair competition during the SJ Hot Chefs’ annual “South Jersey Restaurant Week.” Kirchner said the two restaurateurs were “confusing the public because their specials – running concurrently to the Hot Chefs’ week – use the same name and offer the exact same deal.” SJ Hot Chefs has been running the restaurant week promotion twice a year since 2005.
