This year, Flaster Greenberg PC is one of only three New Jersey law firms in the Garden State recognized as one the Best Places to Work in the medium-sized company category. The awards program, run by NJBiz and Best Companies Group, identifies, recognizes and honors the top 100 places of employment in New Jersey that benefit the state's economy, workforce and businesses by focusing on their employees’ growth and quality of life.  This recognition was achieved by a direct submission of survey responses from employees to NJBiz, leading to the Best Places to Work in New Jersey ranking for a second time.

“At our 2020 Virtual Firm Retreat, we took the opportunity to re-affirm our firm’s core values, which included the success and welfare of our employees, and our firm’s collegial and inclusive culture. These core values are interwoven in actual practice as part of firm management and day-to-day operations to make us a great workplace.  We refer to ourselves and engage each other as ‘The Flaster Family’ and take pride in establishing a healthy and positive work environment where employees truly enjoy and look forward to working together,” said Steven S. Poulathas, Co-Managing Shareholder of Flaster Greenberg. “We are honored to be named to the Best Places to Work in New Jersey list for the second time, and thank each member of the Flaster Family for the positive culture and work environment we have achieved.”

Along with competitive compensation and a full range of health, disability and life benefits, Flaster Greenberg offers a profit-sharing plan for all employees, tuition reimbursement, two complimentary electric vehicle charging stations in the firm’s parking lot, legal service benefits to its employees, fun seasonable events planned by the firm’s Social Committee, and now, each office is fully stocked with healthy snacks and gourmet coffee machines to help enhance the “back to the office” experience for employees. Pre-pandemic, the firm’s employees would regularly gather for ‘Cake Day’ and ’Bagel Day’ held each month in recognition of employee birthdays and anniversaries, firm-sponsored sporting events and outings, and other team-building events throughout the year. These gatherings are expected to make a return post-pandemic, along with the use of the building’s full on-site gym facility.

During the pandemic, no employees were laid off at Flaster Greenberg and staff members were supported with counseling and other related resources available through the firm’s EAP provider, Health Advocate. Throughout the past 15 months, most firm employees were able to work remotely in an effort to mitigate exposure to the COVID-19 virus and keep employees safe and healthy. Where necessary, firm laptops and other equipment were provided to staff to assist them in performing their job functions.  ‘Jeans Day’ on Fridays during the summer has now been expanded to ‘Jeans Day Everyday’ as employees enjoy a return to the office environment on a hybrid schedule. Due to the lessons learned from pandemic remote work, a formal hybrid-remote-work policy for all staff is being formalized, which the firm anticipates will better accommodate work-life balance, morale, and overall well-being for all of its valued employees.

To further round out a positive work culture, Flaster Greenberg launched a “Rally for Change” campaign, speaking out against social injustice. Many employees participated in the campaign by making financial or in-kind contributions to various advocacy organizations, with the firm matching individual contributions. This was in addition to two scholarship awards to a New Jersey and Pennsylvania diverse law student from Rutgers and Temple law schools.

Likewise, happy employees clearly make the best ambassadors for lateral recruiting efforts. Throughout the past 18 months, the firm has experienced a flurry of lateral hiring activity, having brought on a total of 23 attorneys since January 2020, expanding strategic practice and geographic areas such as Intellectual Property and Insurance Recovery as well as increasing our southern Florida footprint.

This year’s Best Places to Work in New Jersey recognition comes on the brink of the firm’s 50th anniversary, and when leadership of the firm was transitioned to the next generation with the election of Steve Poulathas and Jordan LaVine as the firm’s Co-Managing Shareholders.

This award marks the fourth time the firm has been featured as one of the top places to work by a New Jersey publication. Flaster Greenberg was previously listed as one of the Best Places to Work in New Jersey by NJBiz in 2018 and one of the Best Places to Work in South Jersey by South Jersey Biz magazine in 2017 and 2012.
