Shareholder David Neufeld, International Tax and Corporate Law Attorney, will be recognized by the Ministry of Finance of the Nevis Island Government for his significant contributions to the development of Nevis’ International Financial Services Sector at the Ministry’s 40th Anniversary Gala and Awards Ceremony being held on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at the Four Seasons Resort on Nevis. Specifically, Neufeld is being recognized for conceiving of, and creating, the Nevis LLC Ordinance, enacted in 1995. Neufeld will be presented with the Leadership in the Financial Services Sector award.
Since 1988, Neufeld has been considered a pioneer in US domestic and offshore limited liability company law. In 1994, he was hired by the government of the Caribbean Island of Nevis to draft LLC legislation for the island. This ground-breaking ordinance was the first limited liability company legislation outside of the United States modeled on U.S. LLC law. It quickly became, and remains to this day, the most widely used and most highly acclaimed offshore LLC law in the world. The Ministry of Finance is recognizing Neufeld for his commitment to the Sector over the years, including this significant contribution to the expansion of their offshore products, that also include the top-of-class Nevis Business Corporation and Nevis International Trust.
The Nevis Ministry of Finance wrote, "[David's] work has resulted in the advancement of the sector over the years. It's resilience is a testament to [his] ability to forge meaningful partnership with the Nevis Island Administration to capitalize on opportunities for the creation of new products necessary for diversification."
Neufeld has practiced law for more than 40 years, advising individuals and businesses around the globe on sophisticated federal income and estate tax planning, state tax residency planning and audits, asset protection, and insurance and investment tax planning. In addition, he helps cross-border clients engaged in both inbound and outbound business and family transactions.
Nevis is an island in the Caribbean Sea about 220 miles east-southeast of Puerto Rico. Nevis and the neighboring island of Saint Kitts constitute the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, a single nation.
