January 8, 2013 | Press Release
Cherry Hill, NJ

Flaster/Greenberg PC is pleased to announce that attorneys John W. Fried and Lee M. Epstein, formerly name partners of Fried & Epstein LLP, have joined the Firm as shareholders effective January 1, 2013, bringing with them two New York office locations, a nationally known Policyholders Insurance Coverage Practice, a White Collar Criminal Defense Practice and over 50 years of combined legal experience.

John W. Fried, who will work in Flaster/Greenberg’s New York offices, is a member of the Insurance Coverage Counseling and Litigation for Policyholders Practice Group and serves as head of the White Collar Criminal Defense Practice Group. His civil practice is devoted to representing policyholders in complex business-related insurance coverage disputes, involving general liability, property, directors and officers, errors and omissions, professional liability and other types of business—related insurance policies. He also represents individuals seeking insurance recoveries pursuant to disability, life, and health insurance policies. Fried’s criminal defense practice involves representing business organizations and individuals who may be or who are the subjects of criminal investigations and/or prosecutions.

Fried is rated AV® Preeminent™ by Martindale-Hubbell and has been named by Thomson Reuters, publishers of “Super Lawyers,” as a New York Super Lawyer-Metro for the last five consecutive years. Admitted to practice before the state and federal courts of New York and New Jersey, he is a graduate of Fordham University School of Law and received his AB from Rutgers University. He is also an active member of the American and New York City Bar Associations.

Lee M. Epstein, who will work in the firm’s Philadelphia office, is a member of Flaster/Greenberg’s Insurance Coverage Counseling and Litigation for Policyholders and Litigation Practice Groups. He concentrates his practice in insurance coverage law and has a special expertise in securing insurance for environmental, products of professional liabilities and for first-party property and business interruption losses. He has represented market leaders in the airline, chemical, financial, mining, food and HVAC&R industries.

Admitted to practice before the state and federal courts of Pennsylvania and New York, Epstein is a graduate of George Washington University Law School and received his BA from The Pennsylvania State University. He is also an active member of the American, Pennsylvania and New York Bar Associations.

Since 1999, Fried & Epstein LLP has achieved extraordinary success on behalf of their clients. Insurance recoveries in excess of several hundred million dollars have been secured by way of settlements and judgments. Significant trial and appellate victories were obtained in courts throughout the country, including: New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Louisiana, Colorado, Missouri, Florida, California, Ohio, Delaware, and even Puerto Rico. They were gratified when one of their cases resulted in a fundamental change in New York law with the enactment of “Ian’s Law,” which prevents insurers from discontinuing health insurance for seriously ill patients. Those successes were capped off this past year when one of their cases was selected as the top appellate victory by Law360 for policyholder’s throughout the country.

In addition to expanding the Insurance Coverage Practice, the Firm will add a White Collar Criminal Defense Practice, headed by Fried, who served for 18 years as an assistant district attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney's Office.
