John Silvester is a member of Flaster Greenberg’s Intellectual Property Department and Patent Practice Group. He focuses his practice on patent prosecution and enforcement in the United States, Europe, China, India, and other international jurisdictions and specializes in electronics, especially wireless communications, lighting applications, and medical devices.
John’s strong technical background enables him to support clients’ needs in many different technology areas, including electronics, medical devices, artificial intelligence (AI), and software.
Prior to joining Flaster Greenberg, he worked as an electrical engineer where he designed electronic systems and software for medical devices including pharmacy robotics, smart medicine cabinets, and medicine packaging machines. John’s engineering experience also includes ensuring regulatory compliance for products in the U.S. and Europe.
John graduated summa cum laude from Thomas R. Kline School of Law of Duquesne University where he obtained a Juris Doctor degree and magna cum laude from Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering at Arizona State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
John served as an infantryman in the United States Army for four years, including two years in the elite 75th Ranger Regiment under Joint Special Operations Command, and one deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.
