Mark Basanta has joined Flaster Greenberg as an attorney in the firm’s Intellectual Property Department and Patent Practice Group.

Basanta represents clients in high-stakes patent litigation, post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (including inter partes reviews), and trademark litigation. He also advises on pre-litigation IP infringement and validity issues, delivering business-focused opinions that support litigation and transactional decision-making.

Drawing on 15 years of hands-on experience prior to entering the legal profession, including as a business owner, manager, and engineer, Basanta brings clients a rare combination of practical insight, commercial acumen, and legal sophistication. He takes a strategic and creative approach to complex disputes and is known for distilling complex legal and technological concepts into clear and persuasive advocacy. Clients trust him to help navigate high stakes intellectual-property and technology-related matters.

Basanta is experienced in a broad array of technologies and industries, including medical devices, autonomous vehicles, recreational watercraft, dental implants and fixtures, audio equipment, pharmaceutical innovations, packaging technology, information technology, construction tools, and more.

Basanta graduated with honors from Stevens Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in mechanical engineering. He attended Seton Hall University School of Law on a Chancellor Scholarship and received his Juris Doctor cum laude with a concentration in intellectual property. While in law school, Basanta was a member of the Seton Hall Legislative Journal and Mock Trial Board and was recognized for his brief writing.
