The F/G Difference

Why Size Matters

Law firms talk a lot about their size and many tout the number of attorneys “on board.” But what can a statistic tell you about life at a firm?

At Flaster/Greenberg, we agree that numbers are important, but we think they tell only a part of the story. As a firm, we know who we are and where we are going—we are, very comfortably, a midsized commercial business law firm of 70 attorneys. Our growth over 40 years has been careful, measured and financially sound. We are large enough to capture interesting and sophisticated work from Fortune 100 corporations across the country, while our manageable size means we all know each other’s names.

Because of our size, every lawyer shoulders a great deal of responsibility in client matters. As colleagues practicing together, everyone plays a role and all are expected to contribute. Our legal teams are leanly staffed, usually with one shareholder and one associate. Our associates, paralegals and other professionals are involved in matters from beginning to end, and routinely interact directly with our clients. The firm’s state-of-the-art resources, technology and marketing staff support our attorneys’ efforts to provide the highest level of client service.

People matter in our close-knit community, and we pride ourselves on professional development for every member of the firm. Continuing education is critical in motivating employees and remaining competitive. We embrace individuality, open interaction and diversity among our employees, and encourage participation in pro bono, community and charitable activities at all levels within the firm.

Flaster/Greenberg is deliberately selective in recruitment and hiring. Our unique business model, a strong firm management team and an established regional brand benefit those with an entrepreneurial approach to the practice of law. Indeed, opportunity abounds here for attorneys who desire practice autonomy within a non-political environment.
