Matthew A. Goldstein

Matthew Goldstein is a member of Flaster Greenberg’s Insurance Coverage and Litigation Practice Groups, focusing his practice on complex commercial and corporate litigation in both state and federal courts. Mr. Goldstein specializes in securing insurance recoveries for corporate and individual policyholders and representing clients in business disputes and financial litigation.

Before joining the firm, Mr. Goldstein practiced at an insurance coverage law firm in Philadelphia, PA, and prior to that at a large litigation law firm representing clients in class action, derivative, and mergers and acquisitions litigation in state and federal courts nationwide. During his career, Mr. Goldstein has secured financial recoveries for his clients in excess of $100 million in insurance coverage disputes and cases relating to all forms of corporate misconduct, including excessive executive compensation, misuse and waste of corporate assets, unfair related third-party transactions, insider selling, and breaches of fiduciary duty.

Mr. Goldstein earned his J.D. from Rutgers School of Law-Camden, where he served as an associate editor of the Rutgers Journal of Law and Religion and earned various academic honors. He received his B.A. from The George Washington University, magna cum laude.

Representative Matters

  • Obtained a $11.5 million settlement for a large packaging manufacturer in an insurance coverage dispute
  • Successfully settled third-party product recall claim on behalf of an international subsidiary of a U.S. based multi-national corporation
  • Represented satellite television provider in patent infringement insurance coverage litigation at both the trial and appellate levels
  • Represented corporate and individual policyholders in first-party property damage claims
  • Represented a movie studio in business interruption claim against its insurer related to COVID-19
  • Successfully obtained dismissal of all claims asserted against a company’s former treasurer in a business dispute
  • Secured emergency injunctive relief on behalf of a law firm and its managing partner against a former partner in a contentious business divorce
  • Obtained favorable settlement for a third-party funder in multidistrict litigation
  • Secured summary judgment on behalf of a commercial property owner in connection with claims asserted by a real-estate broker under Pennsylvania’s Commercial Real Estate Broker Lien Act
  • Obtained $59 million settlement in a class action against the officers and directors of a global footwear and apparel company in connection with the company’s recapitalization
  • Obtained $18.5 million settlement in a class action against an aerospace engineering company’s controlling stockholders in connection with the company’s acquisition of a helicopter company
  • Obtained $15 million settlement in a stockholder derivative action involving a pharmaceutical company related to insider trading and spring-loading of stock options
  • Obtained $11.1 million settlement in a stockholder derivative action against certain related entities of a non-publicly traded REIT related to fees paid to the company’s former business and property managers
  • Represented a mother on a pro bono basis in custody dispute pending in Philadelphia Family Court
