Joshua R. Javitz

Joshua R. Javitz is an attorney in Flaster Greenberg’s Intellectual Property Department and Patent Group. He focuses his practice on patent procurement, licensing, and litigation; portfolio development; and counseling clients, ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 corporations. Josh’s practice is spread across a wide range of technologies, including wireless communications; lighting, automotive, payment, block-chain, and e-commerce technologies; artificial intelligence; consumer products; cryptography; firearms; printing systems; semiconductors; and display and medical devices.

Having prepared and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications, Mr. Javitz has significant experience working with the U.S. Patent Office, and in particular, the Patent Examiners residing in the 3600 Art Unit. As part of his prosecution and counseling practice, he leverages this experience to provide strategic guidance on developing and commercializing products, and implementing patent strategies that provide added value to a client’s business. Moreover, with his substantial experience in international patent prosecution, Josh develops and manages global patent portfolios. Additionally, he has prepared opinions on patentability, invalidity, infringement, and non-infringement, which allow clients to assess and manage risks associated with launching products and services.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Javitz worked at two global Philadelphia-based law firms and IBM’s Patent Center.

He earned his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law, and his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Scranton.
