Flaster Greenberg shareholders Jane Fearn-Zimmer and Steven Sacharow will host the fourth installment of the firm’s Tax Reform Seminar Series on September 13, 2018 at the firm’s Cherry Hill, NJ office. The program, entitled “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act - Impact on Family and Elder Law,” will provide attendees with an overview on the recent tax reform changes and their impact on current issues in elder, disability and family law. The event will also be broadcast via Facebook Live on the firm’s Facebook page for interested attendees that cannot attend in person.
The seminar will discuss a wide variety of issues relating to the new tax code changes. Panelsits will address the new rules for the Child Adoption Tax Credit, the impact of the new tax code changes in family law matters including alimony, business valuations, 529 plans, mortgage and SALT limitations, and the child tax credit. Attendees will also learn about the impacts for elder and disability law, including 529A ABLE accounts, Medicaid and Medicare, ROTH IRA rules, dependent care assistance programs, and changes to a variety of other estate, trust and charitable planning strategies. The program will be incredibly informative for attorneys, accountants, financial planners, social workers, certified assisted living administrators, and any person caring for elderly, disabled and special needs individuals.
Jane Fearn-Zimmer, a shareholder in Flaster Greenberg’s Elder and Disability Law, Trusts and Estates, and Taxation practice groups, is well known in the community as an established elder and disability law attorney with over 13 years of experience dealing with complex legal matters. A frequent author and lecturer, Jane speaks and write on a variety of tax, special needs planning, Medicaid planning, guardianship and estate planning topics to a broad range of groups. She also serves as the Editor of The Elder Law Report, Including Special Needs Planning, a national newsletter, through which she updates attorneys regarding new developments in elder law and special needs planning.
Steve Sacharow, a shareholder in Flaster Greenberg’s Family Law and Litigation practice groups, has substantial and extensive experience in family law and complex commercial litigation and is nationally recognized for his work. His representation of clients includes matters involving child custody, parenting time, child support, adoption, alimony and equitable distribution of assets. It also consists of legal aspects of relationship formation including cohabitation and prenuptial agreements. His practice further includes representation of individuals involved in same sex relationships, including cohabitation agreements and dissolution of relationships, involving marriages and non-formalized relationships.
