Flaster Greenberg shareholder Kenneth R. Gilberg has been tapped by Primepoint LLC to speak at their upcoming Spring Seminar on how to classify workers correctly and why it’s important.
The topic of his discussion, entitled “1099 Independent Contractor vs. W-2 Employee:
Learn the How to Classify Workers Correctly and Why It's Important,” will define the criteria used to distinguish between an employee and independent contractor, as well as review the possible adverse consequences to employers of misclassification, including: IRS and DOL enforcement audit procedures; “best practices” to limit, or avoid; liability; IRS, DOL, NJ and PA independent contractor’s tests; and keys to drafting effective independent contractor agreements.
Mr. Gilberg serves as co-chair of the firm's Automotive Industry Group, and is a member of the firm's Labor and Employment Practice Group. He represents primarily employers in a broad range of employment, labor, and human resources issues. He is an experienced practitioner representing management before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, National Labor Relations Board, Department of Labor and other administrative agencies.
The seminar will be held on Thursday, April 11 at 8:30 a.m. at PrimePoint’s headquarters located at 2 Springside Road in Mt. Holly, New Jersey.
