The conclusion of the Title IX class action lawsuit against Delaware State University (DSU) was reported by the online publication Inside Higher Ed. Comparisons between an also recently-decided matter involving the Quinnipiac University varsity cheerleading squad and the DSU case were kept to a minimum, as per Abbe Fletman, co-counsel on the DSU matter with The Women’s Law Project: “We thought we had a strong case from the beginning, regardless of how the Quinnipiac decision went,” she said. “Even if cheer had been counted as a sport, DSU still wasn’t close to complying with Title IX participation requirements.”
