J. Philip Kirchner, shareholder with Flaster Greenberg PC, has been tapped by the Ligation Counsel of America to speak at the Third Annual Diversity Summit on the topic of diversity in the legal profession and law schools at the University of Chicago on September 14, 2012.

The lecture, entitled “What Law Firms Can Learn about Diversity from Academic Affirmative Action Programs,” will address how law firms should view the benefits of diversity in their legal staffs the same way colleges value diversity among their student bodies. It will also highlight the importance of law firms using the same affirmative action techniques used by colleges today to hire minority attorneys.

Kirchner concentrates his practice on resolving business disputes, including complex litigation of all types of business issues in both the federal and state courts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He has extensive experience representing public and private business entities and individuals in commercial litigation including arbitration, mediation, trial and appeals of contract disputes; accounting, banking, and insurance coverage disputes; employment disputes; claims under the state and federal securities laws; antitrust claims; construction disputes; claims under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) and closely held business dissolutions. He is also the chair of the firm’s Restaurant and Hospitality Group.
