Redevelopment

Flaster/Greenberg attorneys represent contractors and developers pursuing redevelopment opportunities. Our Redevelopment Practice Group attorneys counsel and represent clients in all phases of redevelopment projects, those already in progress and those under consideration, in contract negotiation and drafting, financing, leasing, construction, tax, real estate transaction work, approvals and permitting. Additionally, we counsel redevelopment clients:

  • Facing projects that may lead to displacement of residential, commercial and industrial property owners.
  • In matters of eminent domain.
  • Securing and challenging real property redevelopment designations.
  • Seeking to obtain financing.
  • Preparing approved contracts and documentation for redevelopment projects.
  • Advancing projects through redevelopment, environmental, regulatory and permitting procedures.
  • Negotiating property tax abatements.

Our work for redevelopers includes Brownfields redevelopment and the special remediation and funding programs available to environmentally impacted sites.

We also counsel clients, who in turn are counseling and advising associations and clients on policy, legislation, tax and financial ramifications of redevelopment and specific redevelopment projects.   We counsel landowners who wish to resist redevelopment or "blight" designations and condemnation, in order to preserve existing opportunities or to maximize the price realized in an eminent domain taking.
