Christine E. Thelen is a member of the Litigation Department. She maintains a broadly-based commercial litigation practice focused primarily on matters relating to employment law, contract disputes and regulatory issues. She has represented government entities, individuals and companies in civil litigation matters involving a range of industries, and practices regularly in state and federal courts in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Ms. Thelen has amassed experience in employment discrimination cases, including before state unfair employment practices entities and the EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission). She possesses an additional practice strength and related experience in regulatory law, and has worked with municipal and other entities in implementation of federal ADA laws.
Ms. Thelen's complementary prior experience benefits clients in governmental, social services and the non-profit industry as well as those in the private sector.
Prior to her legal career, Ms. Thelen was a senior associate for several years with the Widing Group, a workforce development consulting firm, where she assisted in the development and implementation of strategies to improve the skill level of current and future workers. While at Widing, her clients included state and federally mandated, private sector-driven boards charged to develop and implement strategies to meet local workforce needs. She also worked as a staff analyst in the financial services department of the Orange County (CA) Social Service Agency; and as a unit manager for the Southeast Los Angeles County Private Industry Council. While serving in this role, she led the development of a new $1.5 million welfare-to-work program; liaised with representatives of state and local Departments of Labor on local programs, providers and clarification of key legislative and regulatory issues; and wrote, coordinated and oversaw implementation of grant proposals and grant monies, including monitoring for achievement of fiscal and contractual compliance and achievement of grant goals.
Ms. Thelen graduated cum laude from Temple University Beasley School of Law in 2007. While at Temple, she was a staff member of the Temple Journal of Science, Technology and Environmental Law, and was awarded the Institute for International Law and Public Policy Award. She also received the Barrister Award and was a Beasley Scholarship recipient.
