Profile

Janet S. Kole concentrates her practice in environmental regulation and litigation, handling complex environmental cases in the state and federal courts of New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York. She has been asked to testify as an expert in federal court on complex issues arising in such litigation. Ms. Kole appears regularly on behalf of clients before the Pennsylvania Environmental Hearing Board, Pennsylvania and New Jersey Departments of Environmental Protection and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. 

A retired shareholder of the firm, Ms. Kole is also past chair of the Environmental Law Practice Group.

Community Activities

An active member of the American Bar Association, Ms. Kole is a recent past vice-chair of the Special Committee on Smart Growth and Urban Policy, ABA, Section of Environment, Energy and Resources and is co-chair of the Book Publishing Board of the Section of Litigation. She is a former co-chair of the ABA Section of Litigation, Environmental Litigation Committee and served on the Council of the Section of Litigation. She was also recently named Division Director of Division II - Publications, CLE & Programs. Additional Bar leadership positions held during her distinguished career include director of the ABA Division of Publications, Section of Litigation and editor-in-chief of the ABA's Litigation News.  

An emeritus member of the Board of Trustees of the Society of Women Environmental Professionals, Ms. Kole serves as a volunteer lawyer for the Pennsylvania Environmental Council Mentoring Program and the Philadelphia and New Jersey Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts. After serving as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Society Hill Synagogue, she was elected treasurer in 2004.
